Hoppers Place Donmueang Hostel: Review

Check-in: Wednesday, October 11th

For my Thailand backpacking trip, I was determined to stay within my travel budget of $60USD a day. So I decided to pick a hostel close to the airport but not too far from all the attractions I wanted to visit while in Bangkok. I decided on a 6-person dorm room at Donmueng Hostel, and at the very low cost of $7USD per night. So, I know you’re all wondering, “what was it like?!”. Here is my short review of my night at Donmueng Hostel:

So, if you are a follower of my blog, then you know when I travel I tend to do so quite cheaply. I like to keep my hostel prices as close to under 20USD a night. And so far, I have quite a bit of good luck doing so.

Hoppers Place Hostel is located close to DMK International Airport, which means, you guessed it, free shuttle to and from the airport. Which means you save around 100 baht each way when you arrive and depart. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they helped me find the cheapest mode of travel while in Bangkok and their English isn’t so bad. The lobby on the fist floor is clean and features a small breakfast area, computer table, free Wi-Fi, and lounge area.

Some of the services include; laundry service fee 10 baht, airport shuttle, free Wi-Fi, free small breakfast, lunch and dinner options, co-ed/female or male only rooms for anyone between 0-7 roommates. The second floor is where I stayed, usually you won’t have more that 2-3 other roommates there have ben times here I paid for a room with 4 other roommates and never got one. The rooms are very clean and come with a locker, Wi-Fi in the room, linens; plenty of outlets, and a/c which some hostels don’t have in some countries.

The bathroom is also very clean; two toilets and two showers on the second floor with a single sink and vanity area. There is daily housekeeping so they stayed clean all day long, which is a plus.

Over all, my stay was very pleasant, I enjoyed that it was close to food, pharmacy and the airport - which made solo travel and walking around the city easy and affordable. They greeted me with free bottled water and great customer service. For me, this hostel gets 4 out of 5 stars. My only con was the kitchen closed fairly early and did not open early enough, making things very inconvenient for my late night and early morning adventures. But hey, for only $14USD - I’ll take it. I booked last minute, if you pan your trip out early enough, you can get the same room for as low as 7USD.
